Where does Australian Sportfishing Charters depart from in Arnhem Land?

Our Arnhem Land adventures depart from Gove Harbour (Nhulunbuy). We provide a complimentary bus transfer to and from the Gove airport to ensure a seamless transition to our mothership, the Iron Lady.

What is the best month for Barramundi fishing in Arnhem Land?

While fishing is productive year-round, the peak seasons for Barramundi are:

  • The Run-off Season (March to May): Best for high fish numbers as the floodplains drain into the rivers, providing abundant food.
  • The Build-up (October to December): Best for aggressive feeding activity as temperatures rise.
  • We fish most of the year round in the Top End – NT, for Barramundi and other fish species, but during October to December, we move to The Great Barrier Reef to catch the Giant Black Marlin season, where we depart from Trinity Beach near Cairns.

What species can I expect to catch besides Barramundi?

In Arnhem Land we can target Queenfish, Estuary Cod, Salmon, Fingermark, GTs, Black Jewfish and Mangrove Jack among others.

Can I take my fish home?

We are more about catch and release, sustainable fishing, however if you would like to take some fish home we will fillet and bag your catch for you.

Are the Wessel Islands included in the charter?

Yes. Depending on tides and weather conditions, we steam to the Wessel and English Company Islands. These remote areas offer virtually unfished waters and unique species diversity.

If you would prefer river or estuary fishing, we can create an itinerary to suit all your fishing desires.
