Northern Territory Arnhem Land Barramundi Sports Fishing

February - July

In 2020 we will as usual be fishing two fantastic locations. First, the Roper River in SW Gulf of Carpentaria. Here the target species is (big) barramundi and you have a good chance of catching the famed ‘Metery’. There will be a few other fish around and, if you pick a week with the right tides, mud crabs or freshwater prawns should be on the menu.

Secondly, the eleven remote rivers feeding Arnhem and Buckingham Bays in NE Arnhem Land. Here we also target barramundi but have the opportunity to catch a range of other species including golden snapper, jewfish, threadfin salmon and giant trevally. Here we can guarantee that mud crabs will be on the menu.

This season we have two packages to choose from.
You can select our Arnhem Land or the Roper River Charters.

Arnhem Land

Arnhem Land will provide you with an angling experience of a lifetime. The pristine areas in remote north east Arnhem Land boast a number of species. While most groups’ prime target is the Barramundi with Barramundi fishing being exceptionally good in the estuaries, headlands and creeks, there is also the opportunity to catch Fingermark, GT’s, Mangrove Jacks, Estuary Cod, Salmon, Barracuda and many more.

Roper River

The Roper River offers some of the best Barramundi run-off fishing in the Northern Territory. This magnificent River flows into the Gulf of Carpentaria and is navigable for almost 170kms making the hot spot opportunities endless. With 24 years of experience fishing the Roper River, Captain Dan and his crew have an intimate knowledge of the River and know exactly where to take you in search of the elusive “metrey” Barramundi.
