Wild Turkey Tournament Wins
Oct 2025 Wild Turkey took out the prestigious Port Douglas Marlin Challenge: Champion Skipper: Captain Dan Bergamo, Champion Angler: Karsten Schramm, Winning Deck Team: Anthony Bergamo & John Maxwell, 1st place day 3 and 4, 1st Place Calcutta Trophy, and first place qualifier to the Costa Offshore World Championship in Costa Rica in April 2026. The tournament fishing zone was between the top of Ribbon Reef No.5 and the bottom of the Jeny Louise Shoals.
December 2024 Wild Turkey from Australian Sportfishing Charters was the runner-up in the 41st Ribbons Ladies Game Fishing Tournament. 21 boats competed for the prestigious prize. Yvette Maas caught her first Sailfish, while 16-year-old Skyla McShane, in the out-of-town angler category, caught her first Black Marlin and a Dolphin Fish. All fish were caught on the 10-lb line class, tagged and released.
Also in 2024, Wild Turkey came runners-up in the Port Douglas Marlin Challenge with Champion Boat and Champion Angler – Karsten Schramm.
In 2023, Wild Turkey won the famous Ribbons Ladies Game Fishing Tournament, the Makira Bullfight, the Champion Lady Angler Award, and the Heaviest Other Fish in the Yorkies Mahi Wahi Tournament.
In 2019, Wild Turkey won the Port Douglas Marlin Challenge, which is described as the “Formula 1 of Fishing” or the “Grand Prix of Angling in the world.” It is the only heavy-tackle tournament in Australia.
Most season’s we see Marlin estimated at over 900lbs.
